Civil Aviation Minister assures of effective air service

Pokhara :  Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has stressed the need for effective air service for the development of tourism sector.

Inaugurating the 16th anniversary of International Mountaineering Museum in Pokhara on Tuesday, Minister Adhikari underscored that the air service should be made easy and accessible in the changed context.
He also said the government was planning to launch night time flights to Janakapur as in Dhangadhi, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Simara and Biratnagar. He, however, added that night time flight to Pokhara airport was not likely due to technical reasons. The night time flight to Pokhara could be started after the operation of the Pokhara International Regional Airport.

During the programme, the Minister said the mountaineers from the world should be invited to make the Visit Year 2020 a success.  Stating that no one could weaken the Nepal Airlines Corporation, he assured the confidence that those wrongdoers in the procurement process of the wide-body planes would be brought to book.

Likewise, Speaker of Gandaki Province Netra Nath Adhikari said that tourism was the major basis for Nepal’s prosperity.  On the occasion, Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Elisabeth von Capeller stressed the need for physical infrastructure to lure high end tourists in Nepal that is rich in natural beauty.
