Finance Minister requests Saudi Arabia to invest in Nepal

Kathmandu : Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada has requested Saudi Arabia to invest in Nepal. The request was made during his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nepal Musaid bin Sulaiman Al Marwany, who paid a courtesy call on Minister Khatiwada on Monday.

The Minister during the talks urged Saudi Arabia for investment especially in the infrastructure and industry sectors as he said there has been an environment conducive for investment in Nepal. He also thanked the Saudi government for providing financial support for the development of irrigation, energy and physical infrastructure of Nepal through Saudi Fund, and for giving job opportunities to Nepali migrants.

The Minister said a message could be circulated to all Saudi Arabian investors through the country’s embassy in Nepal requesting them to participate in an investment conference scheduled to take place in Nepal on March 28-29.

In response, Ambassador Marwany said Saudi Arabia was ready to cooperate and invest in Nepal, while saying exchanges of high level visits between both the countries would help take bilateral relations to a new high. He also said talks had been proceeded in various phases for Saudi Arabia to provide financial aids through Saudi Fund for post earthquake reconstruction measures of Nepal. (RSS)
